Best way to teach yourself French?

Well start with learning easy things, and words because then you’ll have to get into more complicated phrases. Take out a book from the library and start by learning basic words, rather than trying to make setences.

Try: Hello-Bonjour Goodbye-Our Revoir Thank You-Merci Thank you very much-Merci Beucoup Where?-Ou? When?-Quand? Her-Elle Him-il Mother-Mere Father-Pere Love/Like-Aime Dog-Chien Cat-Chat Bird-Oiseau Fish-Poisson Talk-Parle Food-Nourrishments Snake-Serpent

Those are a couple of words, that you can practise, but it will take alot of dedication to teach yourself a new language. I know that you want to learn yourself but there are probably some local teachers/tutors that can assist you with this. Try asking on here? It will be very difficult to teach yourself. There are alot of irregulars/exeptions to rules just like in the English language. Those are the hardest. Bonne Chance! (Good luck)

I’m sure you could find some at your library for a start.

Best programme I have found is Rosetta Stone.

Also do some of the free language courses on the http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages website.
